Javier Garcia-Martinez is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and the Director of Molecular Nanotechnology Laboratory at the University of Alicante, Spain, where he received his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry. He is also a co-founder of Rive Technology Inc. (Boston, MA), a clean energy company commercializing the advanced catalyst technology he invented at MIT. He is also currently the Vice-chair of the World Economic Forum General Assembly Council on Emerging Technologies and an active member of Bureau of the International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Professor Garcia-Martinez has published extensively in the areas of nanomaterials, catalysis and energy. He recently edited the two books "The Chemical Element: Chemistry's Contribution to our Global Future", the second edition of "Nanotechnology for the Energy Challenge" and "Mesoporous Zeolites", all published by Wiley-VCH. Professor Garcia-Martinez has received numerous awards including the 2005 Europa Medal, the 2006 Silver Medal of the European Young Chemist Award and the 2007 TR35 Award. Elena Serrano-Torregrosa is a Research Fellow at the Molecular Nanotechnology Lab of the University of Alicante (Spain). Dr. Elena Serrano is a Research Fellow at the Molecular Nanotechnology Lab of the Inorganic Chemistry Department at the University of Alicante (Spain). Elena Serrano received her PhD from the University of the Basque Country on the nanostructuring of functional materials and carried out her post-doctoral activity in collaboration with Arkema at the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) in Lyon. Her current research interests are in the area of new synthetic pathways to prepare heterogeneous catalysts by self-assembly of functional materials and block copolymers, where she has published extensively. She co-edited the book "The Chemical Element: Chemistry's Contribution to our Global Future" and has written two book chapters on Chemistry Education.
