First there was Design Sponge at Home, and then came Young House Love. Now there's a book from Remodelista, the last unpublished design site with the kind of obsessive followers enjoyed by Artisan's previous design blog authors. Remodelista.com is a much larger site and caters to an older, more established audience. The aesthetic here is characterised by classic spaces over designs that are trendy and transient; well-edited rather than overly cluttered environments; and artisanal products over disposable goods. The book contains in-depth tours and lessons from 12 enviable homes; a recipe-like breakdown of the hardest-working kitchens and bathrooms; dozens of do-it-yourself projects; 'The Remodelista 100', a guide to the best everyday household objects; plus a breakdown of the ins and out of the remodelling process. High and low mix seamlessly here and getting the look need not be expensive (Remodelista loves Ikea). In a world of design confusion, Remodelista takes the guess work out of the process.
